Jimmie Morris Compton of Matlock and lifelong Harbor resident, died December 22, 2011 in Mason County. He was 54. Jimmie was born January 20, 1958 in Aberdeen, Washington to James William and Eulalia Nadine (Middleton) Compton. He attended school in Aberdeen and is a graduate of Weatherwax High School's class of 1974. He married Betty Jean Jones in 1980 in Reno, Nevada. Jimmie worked as a timber faller. He worked for a time for Simpson Timber Company and later for Don Walker Logging before an on the job injury left him a paraplegic in 2003. Jimmie enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time in the woods. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Betty of the home in Matlock and his mother, Eulalia (Roger) Cooper of Enumclaw, Jimmie is survived by his children; Karisa Compton, Tumwater, Cinda Compton, Jose Compton, Natalie Compton, all of Matlock and the apple of his eye, his grandson, Isaiah Compton, also of Matlock. Jimmie is also survived by his sisters; Barb Rohbolm, Auburn, California, Janette Brown, Ohio and Mary Messina of Bonney Lake, Washington and his mother-in-law, Betty Jones of Elma. Jimmie is also survived by his best friends, Nick Vharnos and Brian Galivan. He is preceded in death by his father, James. The family would like to express their gratitude to those who assisted in the search and recovery efforts for Jimmie. A celebration of Jimmie's life will begin 1PM Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Matlock Grange. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Betty Compton donation accouont for the new Matlock Search and Rescue at Anchor Bank.
