Lifelong Satsop resident, Faun Dotson, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in Shelton at the age of 90. Faun was born January 21, 1920 in Junction, Idaho to Lee M. and Laura May (Gant) Stewart. She was the youngest of ten children. In August of 1936, she married Loyd Dotson. Loyd died in 1988. Faun is survived by her son Lee Dotson and his wife Norene of Satsop and her daughter, Patricia Johnson and her husband Len of Olympia. Faun is also survived by a special person, Robert Wilson who was part of the family. Also surviving are four grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Faun was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Faun was proud of being the longest resident of Satsop, having moved there in 1925. She loved to share stories of how great Satsop used to be. One day, Faun was asked if she would be the interim custodian at the Satsop School until they could find a permanent person, thirty-years later they must have found someone because that's the year she retired to spend time with her ailing husband. Faun was active with the Olympians Hiking Club, Elma Senior Center and the East County Museum. Faun loved travelling with friends having made twelve trips to Alaska. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest with hot air balloon rides, parasailing and backpacking the Copper Canyon on Donkeys. Faun was always up for a challenge. She took great pride in sharing how as a child, she travelled here from Leadore, Idaho aboard a covered wagon a journey that took six weeks back then. The last time she returned to Leadore, it took two days by car. Faun touched many lives, especially the children at Satsop School, where she was known as "Dotsy". She could be tough when needed, but she loved each one for who they were. The family is sure many will remember those field trips she planned.
Please join the family at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20th at the Satsop Church in Celebration of Faun's Life. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Satsop Church.
